Man arrested, accused in Sacramento hit-and-run that left 3 on sidewalk with major injuries

Sacramento police officers arrested a man Thursday suspected of driving an SUV onto a curb and slamming into three people in tents, leaving them with major injuries, police said.

The 43-year-old man is accused of fleeing Sunday’s hit-and-run in a black Chevrolet Tahoe with custom wheels after the incident on Dos Rio Street, just north of North B Street, in the River District.

The three victims suffered “major blunt force trauma injuries,” according to Sacramento Valley CrimeStoppers.

On Sunday night, one person was listed in critical condition, and the other two victims were in critical but stable condition, police said.

The suspect was booked and released from jail, according to jail logs. He’s expected to appear in court Monday to face charges.

Police declined to offer more information about the case Thursday, including whether the hit-and-run was suspected to be intentional.
